American citizen of Jamaican descent being his brother’s keeper

David Williams Jnr, a member of the newly registered charity group, The Humanity Divine Libertarians Foundation of Jamaica Ltd, presented some well needed medical equipment to a child living with mental and physical disabilities.

The presentation took place on Wednesday afternoon, September 20, at Robin’s Bay Primary School in Robin’s Bay, St Mary.

Mr Williams Jnr presented a wheelchair, potty and walker to Doreen Sutherland, the mother of eight-year-old Naptallie  Shand, who is living with disabilities.

Naptallie’s mother suffers from severe back pain as she lifts him to the bath, takes him to the doctor and carries him outside just for fresh air where she has to sit holding him. The items were well needed for him and Ms Sutherland expressed her gratitude to Mr Williams Jnr and the team at Humanity Divine Libertarians Foundation of Jamaica (HDLFOJ).

Mr Williams Jnr highlighted the background of donating the items given.

“American Citizens of Jamaican Descent being his brother’s keeper. Therefore, on the road of Jericho in a twenty first century world of terrorism, drugs, gangs, racism and corruption or crime in general, the journey of a thousand miles throughout time and space begins with the first step.

“Today is a historic moment and a new day in my life, in the life of my Jamaican family and my people. Therefore, who would have thought that an American citizen of Jamaican descent would have been able to get the assistance from corporations (including Jamaica Producers, Facey Commodity and a good airline) both in the USA and Jamaica, along with numerous others from all walks of life needed for me to be personally able to not only gather in the USA but also deliver donated medical equipment to the severely challenged child and his mother in front of the primary school children in Robin’s Bay, St Mary on September 20, 2017.

“Thus also giving these children demonstration and lesson on how to follow the path of righteousness leading to not only a safe and more progressive Jamaica, but also with turning Jamaica into a self-sufficient first world country. Furthermore the Humanity Divine Libertarians Foundation of Jamaica Limited (HDLFOJ) is seeking donations to purchase land to build trade schools, learning centers, along with homes for the elderly etc in Robin’s Bay, St Mary, where my first charity event was held.

Humanities Divine Libertarians Foundation of Jamaica

MISSION:

The problems of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, crime and violence and other social struggles are multifaceted and must be confronted simultaneously on all levels. The aim of HDLF then is to prepare young people and others from all walks of life to confront the challenges of 21st century Jamaica and the world, which includes terrorism, illegal drugs, racism, gangs, cybercrimes, illiteracy, unemployment, poverty, prostitution, violent political, religious and activist organizations, along with corruptions within governments which contribute to make matters worse. We hope to achieve part of this endeavor through building trade schools, learning centers and homes for the elderly in their respective communities and eventually extending our outreach globally. We work cooperatively with community members, policymakers, law enforcement agencies and public and private sectors to create a more inclusive, safer communities and a better world.

VISION:

We hope to change the mindset, image and direction of our citizens and by extension others who are considered rude boys, Yardies, Shower Posse, drug dealers, murderous gangs and now scammers to become a cornerstone in the creation of a far more harmonious, compassionate, fairer, safer, better and more prosperous world for all of us and our common future.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:

We believe that not sweeping these social challenges under the rug or ignoring the fact that we are now living in a far more potentially dangerous world than past generations will allow young people and all concern to realize that far more creative if not ingenious approaches are required to find and implement far-reaching solutions in a world of over seven billion people. Social media technology now provides a medium through which all concern can sit at the table together and work towards making the necessary changes needed to create the type of world that someday even the infant among us today must leave to their offspring humanity.

OUR FOCUS:

At this present time in history Jamaica is experiencing an alarming murder rate in Montego Bay, St. James, one of the world’s top tourist destinations. It is widely reported in the news media that some of these murders are linked to gangs affiliated with Lottery scamming. These cybercriminals are known to fleece US citizens and others overseas out of their life savings and in some cases the victims are reported to not only being left penniless in poverty but have also known to commit suicide. Consequently, this has jeopardized the country’s tourism industry. Mass imprisonment or capital punishment is not necessarily the only answer to the above mentioned crimes. Therefore, HDLF current focus areas are education and training, community building, humanitarian aids and human right advocacy. We are also a crime-prevention and community development foundation. We want to reduce the high rate of school dropouts, we want to break the cycle of poverty, violence and the recruitment of juveniles and others into various types of criminal activity.

OUR WORK:

Through the building of trade schools and learning centers we hope to offer at risk youths, ex-prisoners, deportees, along with other citizens a safe space for them to learn marketable skills in the area of media art and technology, agricultural techniques, specialize trucking operations, industrial mechanical operations, deep sea fishing, entertainment and food processing all of which the foundation has the power to accommodate. Through our training all concerns will be able to acquire the skills necessary to secure decent wages enabling them to assist their loved ones, thus, preventing them from illegally entering other countries looking for low-paying jobs or continuing on a path of crime or starting a vicious cycle of crime and violence (mentioned above) leading to imprisonment or deportation thus becoming a burden instead of a blessing to their respective family, communities and countries. Furthermore, we will also be offering leadership development and community organization courses which include modules in conflict resolutions and mentorship training.

OUR FIRST YEAR:

Part of this project started back in 1997 by president and founder, David Williams Snr. He continued this project throughout his journey in county jails, federal prisons and immigration detention center. He was exposed not only to the way in which the government and the judiciary system, church and activist organizations work, but most importantly the mindset of his fellow inmates coming from all walks of life, colors, races and countries. Therefore, it would be unfair to say that while he was unable to register an NGO from prison this foundation started when he was released from prison and was able to register the foundation on April 21, 2016. There are numerous letters on our website that he has received from various members of congress, federal judges, businesspersons, the media, churches and activist organizations, written by himself and his fellow inmates addressed to their respective family members asking them to contact as well US president, George Bush, President Barrack Obama, First Ladies Michelle Obama and Lara Bush, Senator Bill Frist, James Talent, Pete Domenici, John McCain, Hillary Clinton, Orrin G. Hatch and John Warner. Congress Reps: Daniel Payne, Elijah Cummings, Vance McAllister, Eddie B. Johnson and Joann Emerson. Mayors: A. C. Wharton and Buddy Dyer. Federal Judges: James Parker, Clarence Brimmer, Leroy Hanson, Marta Vasquez and Magistrate Lesley Smith. Media Personnel: Katie Couric, Discovery Magazine and US News and World Report. Businesspersons: Juanita Brown, Anthony Robbin Foundation ( Shane Moniet), Earl G. Grave Sr. Religious organizations: Christian Science Monitor, Dr. C. Thomas Anderson, RBC Ministries (Clair Hess and Becky Knapp), Compassion (Fred Moor), ISKCON Prison Ministry (Candrasekhara Dasa) and Association of the Miraculous Medal. Activist Org.: Critical Resistance, FACTS, Freedom in Flight and Cure New York. These persons and organizations were contacted by Mr. Williams and other inmates telling their stories and journeys which led to the commission of crimes and sadly imprisonment, leaving their loved ones to struggle, suffer and grieve their lost further offering to work towards creating safer and better communities and countries globally. Hoping to redeem themselves in the eyes of their loved ones eyes and society. We are pleased to say that many of these and numerous others contacted responded in the affirmative, including then senator Obama whose aid took the step of not only locating potential grants opportunities but also sending brochure on how to start a NGO and acquire grants aimed at achieving the objectives of making positive contribution.

OUR OUTREACH:

Though we are headquartered in St. Mary and primarily work across the parish, we are constantly being asked to open branches in various other parishes and even internationally as well.

OUR PROMISE: HDLOF is about making a difference in the lives of our young people by providing the type of 21st century equipment needed to teach highly sort-after skills which the average institutions and companies cannot afford to purchase for vocational training purposes, in the following fields: deep sea fishing boat, high tech construction cranes, road and building equipment, cement mixers  bulldozers, backhoes, high tech video cameras, sound, stage a

nd lighting needed in the movie-making, mechanical engineering and auto body equipment. For example: we are hoping that this will turn Jamaica into a first world country where we can have car manufactur

ing plants, being able to build our own roads and power plants etc.  Hopefully with the support and assistance of the Jamaican business community our companies will eventually be able to compete for lucrative contracts globally instead of only being able to go overseas to do menial labors for example picking apple and domestic help or getting involved with criminal activities.  Finally, as young people and others work to build up their lives they focus less on crimes. They find a purpose in and a means to create the change they want in their respected communities and countries.

OUR TARGET:

At risk youths, ex-prisoners, deportees and others who are seeking to better their lives without having the means at their disposal. Each participant will benefit directly from our foundation and for each successful participant at least twenty others, their family and friends will benefit indirectly. We can grow successful through this model.
