The mentally-ill man alleged to have attacked and killed a popular Ocho Rios shopkeeper was said to have been involved in several other chopping incidents, some of which reached the courts.
The man, 28-year-old Kayson Walker, alias ‘Bum Bum’, or ‘Skel’ also of Carib Heights/Bypass Ocho Rios, was shot dead by the police in what they said were attempts to arrest him. This was after he had inflicted wounds to Antonio ‘Workie’ Bryan on Tuesday night, June 6.
Bryan later succumbed to his wounds at hospital.
His killer, Walker, was said to have been known by Bryan. The shopkeeper among other things also reportedly assisted Walker on occasions and also offered advice.
This has left many to wonder why Walker would turn around and stab Bryan. Several persons have been left in shock and mourning over the loss of Antonio Bryan, who they all describe as helpful and one giving good advice to many.
MURDER, WOUNDING CHARGE
Kayson Walker had several cases before the courts. He often was boisterous when he was brought to the court and talked loud on some occasions when addressing the court. His mother was present on most of his court appearances.
It is not clear as to progress of those cases, but information revealed is that he had been released from custody on a wounding charge. The complainant reportedly did not want to go forward with the matter.
It is alleged that in 2015, Walker got into arguments with one of the prisoners who were sharing a meal and Walker later stabbed the man behind the ear. The prisoner was taken to the hospital and treated.
Prior to that, Walker was charged with the 2013 murder of 37-year-old Dwayne Brown of Pineapple, Ocho Rios.
The body of Brown otherwise called ‘Donkey’ was found at the Buckfield playing field in Ocho Rios by persons who had gone to play football on the morning of May 22, 2013.
Brown’s hands were bound and his throat slashed. It was believed that he was not murdered at that location but elsewhere and his body dumped there.
Despite checks by the North Coast Times, it is not clear as to the progress of that murder case or whether it had been before the circuit court, parish court or if it was eventually dropped.
FISH FRY WOUNDING
Kayson Walker also came close to the door of death as he had been shot and wounded in a shooting at a fish fry event in Pineapple Place in Ocho Rios on October 19, 2014. A woman was also killed.
The slain woman was 21-year-old Kimone Clarke, unemployed of Mammee Bay South, near Steer Town.
It is alleged that Walker and Clarke were together at a fish fry, close to midnight on Saturday night, October 18, 2014. The couple was approached by a gunman who opened fire. Information was that the gun was aimed at Walker who ducked out of the first shot that struck Clarke in the face and exited through the back of her head. She was shot twice after that and her male companion Walker, chased and shot. He was hospitalized while Clarke died.
The police later charged two men with the murder and Walker’s injuring.
The men charged were Kimoy Boyce and Ramiesh Mitchell, alias Bam Bam. They were charged jointly for murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. The two are also charged under the Criminal Justice Suppression of Criminal Organization Act (Anti Gang Act) for being a part of a criminal organization and participating in a criminal organization.
Kayson Walker was said to have been a witness in that case.
FINAL JOURNEY
However, Walker’s mental state, it seemed, continued to haunt him. Some residents on social media commented that Walker had also threatened his mother, since his release from custody.
Unconfirmed reports are that the mother removed herself from the house due to these threats.
However on June 6, Antonio ‘Workie’ Bryan, was stabbed to death Tuesday evening, June 6, about 6:15 by Walker in Carib Heights.
Area residents rejoiced after Walker was shot dead by police even though at the time they did not know that ‘Workie’ had died from wounds inflicted by Walker. Some of them told The Times that Walker was a man who loved violence and many feared him.
Walker’s death marked an end to his cold ways and an apparent thirst for stabbing his victims.
