An 88-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds at her home in Runaway Bay, St Ann on Wednesday, May 17.
The deceased woman has been identified as Nettie Rowe.
Reports from the Constabulary Communications Unit (CCU) are that about 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, a relative went to visit Ms Rowe. She was found with multiple stab wounds to her body in her bedroom.
The police were contacted and Rowe was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Reports to The Times are that Rowe was also sexually assaulted, but CCU could not confirm those details.
