The parish of Portland has been plunged into mourning following the passing of student pilot eighteen-year-old Ramone Forbes.
Forbes a former Titchfield High School student was one of two student pilots aboard an aircraft when it crashed shortly after 1 pm on Thursday in Greenwich Town, St. Andrew. The training instructor and the other student pilot were pronounced dead on the crash scene.
Forbes was reportedly rescued from the plane by residents.
However, he succumbed to his injuries of burns to 60 per cent of his body, bone fractures, eye trauma and inhalation injuries late Thursday night at hospital.
Several persons took to social media to remember the young pilot:
“Condolences to Ramone’s friends and family. It’s never easy to see a young life end so soon, but he could not have died any other way he died pursuing his dreams. RIP”
“God please tell me its a dream. I can’t believe Ramone Forbes gone leave us just like that.”
“He died doing what he loves.”
