Several stirring and well-received performances brought
the house down at the Sandals and Beaches Resorts
Festival of Arts (formerly ENCORE) Ocho Rios region
Talent and Model Competition staged at Sandals Ochi
Beach Resort on Thursday night.
The talents from Sandals Ochi, Beaches Ocho Rios and
Sandals Royal Plantation enthralled the massive audience
of foreigners and local staff and guests with their singing,
dancing, modelling and poetic abilities.
With the talents from all three resorts in scintillating form,
Akeen Fennell from Sandals Ochi delivered the
performance of the night in copping the Best Male Singer
Award. His vocal ability and control along with
showmanship had the ladies in the audience screaming for
more.
Shari Kelly from Beaches Ocho Rios won the Best Spoken
Word category and was another of the outstanding talents
on display, delivering a gripping presentation of a self-
written poem.
Best Female Singer was Jessica Clarke from Beaches Ocho
Rios with a powerful rendition of ‘He Raised Me Up’.
Rosane Murray from Sandals Ochi was the Best Male
Model and had the ladies swooning with his stage craft and
well-toned body, while Althia Sinclair, also from Sandals
Ochi was a knock-out, in grabbing the Best Female Model
crown.
Chad Roache from Sandals Ochi won the Solo Dance
category, while the duo of Shevaughn Sewell and Renaldo
Gray, also from Sandals Ochi, with artistic and intricate
movements, emerged Group Dance winners.
The National Finals, featuring other winners from the
Montego Bay, Negril and White House Region, will be
held at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort on Thursday, September
22.
Garett Bailey and Sasha Lynch, Entertainment Divisionmanagers at Sandals Ochi and Beaches Ocho Rios were
both pleased with the standard of the performances and are
expecting their region to do well come the National finals.
