Drivers of bus, motorcar in latest Llandovery crash warned for prosecution

The St Ann police are still collecting statements from passengers involved in crash that killed two people on the Llandovery main road in St Ann on Friday, August 12.

The crash involved a grey 2009 Toyota Corolla Axio motorcar and a Toyota Regius Ace minibus.

Two women, who were travelling in the bus, died at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital while undergoing treatment.

They are: 45-year-old Marvalyn Anderson-Higgins, housewife and 54-year-old Lindore Campbell, practical nurse, both of Knapdale, near Brown’s Town, St Ann.

According to Sergeant Bryan of the St Ann Traffic police, they are still collecting statements from passengers involved in the crash.

In the meantime, the male drivers of the minibus and the Toyota Corolla Axio motorcar gave statements to the police on Monday, August 15.

They have since been warned for prosecution.

The minibus and the Toyota Axio motorcar were licensed and insured.

Reports are that the minibus and the Toyota Axio motorcar were travelling from Runaway Bay, heading easterly towards Ocho Rios about 2:32 p.m. on Friday, August 12.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the minibus pulled out of the line of traffic and was overtaking, when the Axio motor, car which was ahead, also pulled out and a collision took place between the two.

The bus ended up on its top in a ditch and the car, which had one passenger, ended up in bushes off the highway.

The injured passengers, along with the drivers were later assisted to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital.

Anderson-Higgins and Campbell later died at the hospital, while undergoing treatment.bus
