Police recovered three firearms in two different locations in St Ann at the weekend and arrested and charged a man and a woman in connection with two of the firearms.
Charged with illegal possession of a firearm are: 26-year-old Khaleel Cameron of Main Street, Salem, Runaway Bay St. Ann and 25-year-old Natoya Davis of Oracabessa, St. Mary. Their court date will be announced at a later date.
They were charged after police seized two homemade firearms, four 12-gauge cartridges and three 9mm cartridges on Main Street, Salem in the parish. The seizures reportedly occurred during an operation in the community between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., Saturday, March 5.
Reports are that the police were carrying out investigations that led them to premises, which was searched when the guns and ammunition were found and taken from the premises. A man and a woman who occupied the house were taken into custody.
Police say the other firearm was handed over to them by a man who found it while fishing.
According to the police, on Friday March 4, between the hours of 8:00 a.m., and 9:30 a.m., on Dairy Road, Discovery Bay, St. Ann, a man who was reportedly spear fishing noticed an object at the bottom of the sea. He retrieved the object, which turned out to be a firearm. The Police were called and the firearm handed over to them.
