The wet and overcast conditions on Wednesday, November 25, did not prevent the Fontana Pharmacy Health Fair from going ahead at the pharmacy’s Ocho Rios location in the car park at Eight Rivers Shopping Centre. The parking lot as ringed with booths from nearly a dozen companies and institutions offering health checks, advice and products.
Blood Pressure testing, ECG checks, HIV tests and diabetes test were some of the services offered at the health fair. Manager of Fontana Pharmacy Ocho Rios Janice Carr said the health fair was held to enlighten persons on the importance of having good health. She stated that the different exhibitors all had encouraging tips to give to people on ways to improve their health.
Yaneike Hamilton of Cari-Med Limited, one of the exhibitors at the health fair, told The Times in an interview that the fair was great and many of the persons who visited their booth were well informed about the many products on display, which included their line of hair and facial products.
Some of the other exhibitors present fair were Sagicor, Lasco Distributors, Kirk Distributors, Morris Optical, Island Radiology, Myers Fitness Centre and Voltagren.
Claudette Williams, one of the many persons who stopped at the health fair, lauded Fontana Pharmacy for staging the health fair as it was very informative and greatly welcomed especially at a time when Jamaicans are facing economic challenges.
Near the end of the health fair, on a day which saw intermittent showers, there was a very interesting demonstration of dealing with accident victims and giving CPR.
