3 KILLED IN SALEM CRASH NOW IDENTIFIED

CONCERNS BEING EXPRESSED ABOUT STATE OF TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENT AT ACCIDENT SCENE

RUNAWAY BAY, ST ANN; Oct. 25, 2026

(Updated 4:30 p.m. Oct. 25, with identities of dead and new information about path of vehicles))

Police have identified the three people killed in a motor vehicle crash on the Salem/Runaway Bay Main Road, St Ann, on Saturday night, October 24, 20 26.

They are Anthoney Bowers; 29-year-old Chevanie Christie of Salem Runaway Bay; and 32-year-old Kemar Nugent of Salem Runaway Bay. Nugent was identified earlier.

Police said a white Toyota Corolla and a white Toyota Axio were involved in the fatal crash.

The crash occurred just outside the new KFC restaurant in Salem and involved a vehicle turning from the main road into the access road and another heading in the opposite direction, toward St Ann’s Bay.

Since the crash, people have been saying they have been warning for months now that the traffic arrangements at that section of the Salem/Runaway Bay main road were bound to result in deaths and that multiple crashes have taken place since a road leading at right angles was constructed to access the new business complex. (The North Coast Times is following that story)

Police have also given details that now make it clear the two vehicles involved were being driven in opposite directions along the main thoroughfare. The crash occurred about 11:45 p.m. when “the Toyota Corolla motorcar that was travelling in a westerly direction made a right turn toward the entrance to the KFC [restaurant] and collided with the Toyota Axio motorcar,” a police report said. Police said Bowers was driving the Corolla.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged

Passengers in both vehicles sustained major injuries and were transported to the Saint Ann’s Bay Hospital in serious condition.

Police investigations are continuing.
