Peterkin’s bail was extended for him to return to court on November 4. He was warned by Justice Courtney Daye, who is presiding over this sitting of the circuit to ensure that his legal representation is settled by his next court date.
Edwards, who was a massage therapist, was stabbed to death, reportedly during a fight with Peterkin at her house on June 22, 2011. It was earlier reported that the couple had an argument reportedly over one of Edwards’ female cousins with whom Peterkin was said to be very close .
Edwards accused her common law husband of having an affair with her cousin. It was reported that Edwards was intensely jealous of the relationship between the two. Peterkin reportedly spent the night with the cousin and on his return home an argument developed between himself and Edwards who was getting ready to go to work.
The couple who was living together at the time reportedly got into a fight during which a knife was used to stab Edwards in the chest. Police said they discovered two knives inside the house shared by the couple.
