Police Trying To Get Details of Fatal Head-On Collision

There has been yet another road death in St Mary, and this time, again, on the Tower Isle main road, now known for speeding and crashes.
The police say a 30-year-old man was killed and several other people injured in a head-on collision between a Honda CR-V and a Toyota Succeed motor car.
According to reports, sometime after 7 p.m. Sunday, August 23, a Honda CR-V was travelling from Port Maria towards Ocho Rios; it collided head-on with a Toyota Succeed motor car in the vicinity of Columbus Avenue.
The driver of the Toyota Succeed sustained serious injuries and had to be removed from the wreckage with the assistance of personnel from the Port Maria Fire Department. He was subsequently pronounced dead.
Two young children who were travelling in the Toyota Succeed were injured in the collision and taken for medical treatment. The driver of the Honda CR-V and his female passenger also sustained injuries and received medical attention.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
This is the second crash on that stretch of roadway in just over a week.
On Saturday night, August 15, 39-year-old Steevie Smith of Epworth, St Ann died in a four-vehicle crash. Police are still searching for the driver and vehicle that initiated the collision, as the driver left the scene.
