MAN DIES IN HOUSE FIRE IN ST MARY

BOSCOBEL, St Mary; July 13, 2026

A man burned to death in a house fire in Huddersfield, St Mary, early Monday, July 13, 2026.

Dead is Thirty-four-year-old Anthony Nelson, unemployed, of Huddersfield, near Boscobel, St. Mary.

Reports are that at approximately 4:45 a.m., residents observed smoke coming from a section of a house and alerted the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the police. Before emergency responders arrived, residents attempted to gain entry into the dwelling to extinguish the blaze but were unsuccessful.

The Port Maria Fire Brigade subsequently extinguished the fire. During cooling-down operations, Nelson’s body was discovered inside the premises with severe burn injuries.

The scene was processed by investigators from the Area Two Technical Services Division, and the body was removed for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
