OCHO RIOS HIGH BOY TO COURT NEXT WEEK

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder, on Wednesday, March 4, of his 16-year-old Ocho Rios High schoolmate.
The deceased has been identified as 16-year-old Devonie Shearer of Tay Street, Ocho Rios, St Ann.
The boy who has been charged cannot be named as he is a minor, or under 18 years old. He is from a district in Ocho Rios and started attending the school on a transfer only months ago.

OCHI HIGH STUDENT DIES AFTER ATTACK AT SCHOOL
The North Coast Times has reported that the two boys had a long-standing dispute and a fight broke out between them in Ocho Rios on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Reports from the St Ann’s Bay Police are that at about 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 4, while the two were at school in a classroom, the 17-year-old used a metal chair to hit Shearer on his head, causing a wound and rendering him unconscious. The injured boy was assisted to the St Ann’s Bay hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.

The accused teen was handed over to the police later the same day and was charged on Thursday, March 5, in the presence of his parents, after eyewitness statements implicated him.
He is scheduled to appear before the family court on Wednesday, March 18.
