ST ANN MAN CHARGED FOR ABDUCTING, RAPING TEEN

HELD GIRL AT HIS HOUSE FOR 2 NIGHTS

A St Ann man has been charged with reportedly abducting a teenage girl, holding her captive at his house over two nights, and sexually assaulting her.

Charged is 33-year-old steel worker Kenroy Edwards of Kima district, Bamboo, St Ann. He has been charged with abduction, rape, grievous sexual assault, and unlawful detention.

Police say the charges arose out of an incident in Bamboo between Thursday, February 19, and Saturday, February 21.

Reports from the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) indicate that at about midnight on Thursday, February 19, Edwards allegedly approached a teen girl and made sexual advances.

The report said: “He then took the teen to his house without her permission, where he sexually assaulted her. After that,  he held her captive at the address until she was found and rescued by residents on Saturday, February 21. Edwards was captured by residents who handed him over to the police.

Edwards was charged on Monday, February 23.

A court date is being arranged for him.
