17-Y-O ALSO IMPLICATED IN SINGH’S MURDER

FOURTH PERSON CHARGED, AFTER 2 COPS AND PORTMORE MAN NAMED

PORT MARIA, St Mary, Feb 21, 2026

A 17-year-old boy from Boscobel, St Mary, is the fourth person to be charged in connection with the murder of businessman Garfield Singh on February 9.

The boy has been charged with conspiracy to rob and possession of criminal property in connection with the shooting death of 59-year-old Mr Singh at his Boscobel home.

Police who Saturday morning, Feb 21, reported the boy was charged gave no details about the boy as he is a minor.

On Friday, Feb 20, the police named two policemen and a civilian who were charged in connection with the robbery of Mr. Singh and his shooting death. COP CHARGED IN BOSCOBEL MURDER

Charged with murder is 21-year-old Constable Qwaine Blake.

Constable Blake has also been charged with conspiracy to murder, using a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, stockpiling ammunition, dealing in firearms and ammunition, and possession of criminal property. Police say he also faces several breaches of the Road Traffic Act.

The other policeman is 25-year-old Constable Daz Haynes, charged with misprision of felony.

Also charged is 19-year-old Tyrone Dacosta of Greater Portmore. He has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and dealing in firearms and ammunition.

 

Police gave the following report with Saturday’s release:

Reports from the Port Maria Police indicate that at approximately 3:30 a.m., residents heard banging followed by gunshots at Singh’s residence [in Boscobel]. Checks were made, and the police were

summoned after the businessman was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported tothe hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following investigations into the murder, a case file was prepared and submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for a ruling.

The teenager was subsequently charged after he gave a caution statement outlining his involvement in the commission of the crime.

A court date is being finalised.
