INCIDENT FOLLOWED ROW OVER CAR HIT AT PARTY IN ST ANN

A higgler from Trelawny has been charged with the murder of a taxi man in Runaway Bay, St Ann, nearly two weeks ago.
Charged is 25-year-old Demario Ferguson, otherwise called ‘Mari,’ a higgler of Clark’s Lane, Bounty Hall, Trelawny.

Dead is 49-year-old taxi operator Paul Miller of Mount Edgecombe, Runaway Bay, St Ann.
Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay Police are that at about 2:00 a.m., several people, including Ferguson and friends, and Miller were at a party at Truck Stop, a popular roadside party spot, in Salem/Runaway Bay.

Ferguson reversed a Toyota Axio motor car that hit Miller’s Toyota Pro Box vehicle. A dispute developed and a fight ensued, during which Miller was stabbed in his neck. Miller was assisted to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Following the stabbing, Ferguson and three other companions fled the scene. The vehicle crashed along the Runaway Bay main road, close to the police station, and the men were accosted by the police and transported to the hospital for treatment.
Following further investigation, Ferguson was charged after a question-and-answer session.
His court date is being finalised.
