HE WAS KNOWN AS A DISCIPLINAEIAN AT ST MARY HIGH
HIGHGATE, Sr Mary, Dec. 16, 2025
The St Mary High School community is mourning the death of Anthony ‘Soupy” Clarke Snr, father of popular dance hall artiste, Devin Di Dakta.
“Soupy” who died early Tuesday, December 16, 2025, was a beloved vendor at St Mary High, where he was known for his jovial personality but moreso for serious advice and efforts to keep students in line with school rules and discipline.
Students and teachers remember him fondly.

On the St Mary High Facebook page, he was remembered as a father figure and someone who protected the school.
“He was more than a vendor, he was a father figure, a disciplinarian; he kept order at the gate, ensuring no fights or misbehaviour were tolerated. He was also a protector, making sure no outside conflicts ever crossed into our school grounds, no other students could come to the gate of St Mary High and cause fights, absolutely none,” a section of the post said
Devin Di Dakta, who is a past student of the school, rose to fame in 2015 when he won the Magnum Kings and Queens title. He earned a Grammy nomination for his track ‘Reggae for her’. He is mourning his father.
