TWO DEAD IN MONEAGUE CRASH

Two people died following a crash involving two vehicles near Moneague, St Ann, on Sunday morning, December 14, 2025

Dead are 30-year-old mason Rondel Smith of Rose Hall, Alderton, Claremont and 18-year-old Tashina Williams of Claremont in St Ann. It is not clear if both were in the same vehicle.

Reports remain sketchy about the circumstances of the crash, about 3:00 a.m.. However, North Coast Times understands that at least one of the vehicles involved was carrying people from one party to another when a crash occurred and both cars left the road near Retirement Roadside, overturned and ended up in bushes.

There was great difficulty in the dark in locating those who were involved but several people were taken to hospital where Smith and Williams succumbed.

Member of Parliament for South East St. Ann, Dr. Kenneth Russell, has expressed profound sorrow at the incident. He said: “I am deeply saddened by this tragic news, These were young lives just beginning their journey, filled with promise, potential, and hope. Their loss is heartbreaking, not only for their families, but for the entire community.” Dr Russell expressed condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.

Investigations continue.

The double fatality follows another crash in which two people were killed on Thursday, December 11, along the Queen’s Highway, near Discovery Bay in the parish.
