ST ANN PLANT SUPPLIES PEOPLE IN, AND BEYOND PARISH
DISCOVERY BAY, St Ann; Nov 16, 2025
Discovery Bauxite’s water wells in Discovery Bay, St Ann, are playing a key role during the hurricane recovery period in supplying thousands of gallons of water to communities and individuals in the company’s operating areas, as well as persons and agencies from adjoining parishes.
According to Discovery Bauxite, which has replaced Noranda, since the hurricane-forced reduction of National Water Commission (NWC) supplies, the company has made water available to trucks from as far as Montego Bay, where the Convention Centre houses an arm of the World Central Kitchen Team.

The water facilities are also made available for trucking water to local St. Ann communities, schools, and agencies, while an open water stand adjacent to the company’s public clinic at Jacks Lodge district in Discovery Bay draws consumers from the company’s operating area and beyond.

Individuals and communities from miles around have expressed deep gratitude to the company for the provision of water during this period, with Pauline White, a small business operator in Farm Town, describing it as “a lifeline during a period when access to the NWC supplies is down”.

Private truck operator Linburgh Gayle is also grateful for the access from the bauxite company, as he says he has to respond to requests from schools, churches, families, and scores of individuals in need daily.

A statement from the company says, “Our supplies are important to hundreds of persons who travel from local communities and nearby parishes to get water, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be of assistance in this time of national need.”
