AFTERÂ WOULD-BE ROBBER KILLED, ATTEMPTS MADE BY CRONIES TO FLEE PARISH

The Portland Police have given more details about the killing of a would-be robber and events that followed the breaking in of a Western Union Store in Hope Bay.
They say four people from Kingston have been charged in relation to the incident on Monday, August 25. The charges are office breaking with intent, malicious destruction of property, and misprison of felony.
They are:
- Twenty-six-year-old Rasheed Lyons
- Thirty-year-old Yudeen Brown
- Twenty-one-year-old Emily Brown, and
- Forty-four-year-old Shakira Clarke
The man killed had earlier been identified as twenty-three-year-old Orlando Beverly of King Western district, St Andrew.
The North Coast Times had earlier reported that at about 2:30 a.m., on August 25, a licensed firearm holder had responded to reports of a break-in at his business place in Hope Bay. He was confronted by a man with a gun and shot the man, killing him. Police said at the time, another man who had also broken into the store was wounded and hospitalized. LICENSED FIREARM HOLDER KILLS WOULD-BE THIEF
The latest report from the Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) follows:
“Yudeen Brown and five other armed men reportedly entered a man’s place of business. While inside, they were accosted by the owner of the establishment. An argument ensued, during which one of the men pointed a firearm at the owner. In an attempt to defend himself, the owner discharged several rounds from his licensed firearm, injuring two of the men, one fatally. The other men fled the area unhurt.
“A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched. The escapees reportedly contacted Emily Brown and Shakira Clarke, who solicited the help of a taxi company.
“The police intercepted them while they attempted to flee the parish, thwarting their efforts.
All four individuals were arrested and subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorneys. A court date for them is being arranged.
