The driver of a truck that crashed into another and also damaged a bus in St Ann, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, has died in hospital.

He is 68-year-old Wellington Douglas of Liberty Estate, Port Maria, St. Mary.

Reports from the St. Ann’s Bay Police are that at about 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Douglas was driving a Toyota Regiusace motor truck, near Chukka Cove, on the North Coast Highway heading in an easterly direction (toward St Ann’s Bay).

Upon reaching the traffic lights at Richmond Estates, it is alleged that the truck Douglas was driving collided with a Ford motor truck that was travelling in the opposite direction. Fire personnel assisted in removing persons from the vehicle.

Police did not give details, but it was reported to the North Coast Times that the truck Douglas was driving drifted to the right, into the path of the other truck. A bus was also said to be damaged in the crash.

The Constabulary Communications Network said: “Douglas and the occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital for treatment. However, on Thursday, June 10, Douglas succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the facility.”

Police say they continue to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash.
