ONE WOMAN’S DREAM TO BECOME REALITY SATURDAY ON DISCOVERY BAY BEACH
One woman’s dream of identifying and acknowledging good men and encouraging them to get even better will come to fruition on Saturday, July 5, 2025.
The realization of the dream of guidance counsellor Sherika Sewell Wisdom will take the form of a free-to-attend function on the beach at Discovery Bay, St Ann, where several men will be recognized for their good deeds and exemplary lives. The event is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

Mrs Wisdom believes her mission is not just about uplifting and encouraging males. “If we say more positive things to our males, it will give them strength. That strength will filter into the families, and our world will be a better place.”
She said that between the original thoughts eight years ago and now, she got more encouragement, including in the sermon of one of her pastors, who had preached that if you encourage a man a bit, he will go a mile.

“What he said and what I have observed and experienced is that there are still good men,” Mrs Wisdom said.
She said that two months ago on May 4, 2025, the ‘honouring good men’ thoughts came back to her. “I asked the Lord when should it be done, and I got the date Saturday, July 5, 2025. I started my conversations with some of the good men with whom I have interacted and asked them to save the date.”
Things started moving quickly with the support of friends. Mrs Sewell said some communication issues threatened the staging of the event but she persevered.
She says on Saturday, July 5, the hope is “to treat, encourage and empower men that 1. you have a purpose; 2. never give up, and 3. keep going.”
Mrs Sewell is, even now, seeking partners and sponsors for the first staging of Honouring Good Men event.
