ST MARY TEACHER KILLED IN ROW WITH POLICEMAN LOVER

MURDER-ATTEMPTED SUICIDE IN ST MARY

RICHMOND, St. Mary, June 26, 2025

A St Mary teacher is dead, and a police constable with whom she lived is in hospital with a gunshot wound to the head in what police are investigating as a murder-attempted suicide.

Dead is twenty-one-year-old D’Johnnay Graham, also called Moya, an assistant teacher of Flint River in the parish.

Reports to the North Coast Times are that about 9:15 Wednesday evening in Flint River, Essex District, the police constable shot Ms Graham dead and then turned the firearm on himself. However, he was not killed by the bullet to the head and was taken to the hospital, where he remains, Thursday evening, under police guard.

The constable is assigned to St Catherine.

According to sources, the policeman accused Graham of infidelity. She was seeking to end the relationship. The two were in Kingston together o Wednesday when an argument took place over a call she received. The couple continued arguing when they returned home to St Mary, where they lived with Graham’s mother.

As the quarrel soured with harsh words exchanged, the policeman reportedly pulled his service revolver and shot Graham before turning the gun on himself. Police said when they arrived at the scene, after being summoned, the two were seen with gunshot wounds.

Graham was pronounced dead at hospital, and the policeman was admitted under police guard.

The incident is under investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM). Police said INDECOM was notified, “given the involvement of a policeman in what is suspected to be a case of murder and attempted suicide.”
