COPS SAY DRIVER MAY HAVE DOZED OFF; 4 INJURED

A woman was killed in a crash that police say may have resulted after the driver of the car in which she was a passenger allegedly dozed off.

Dead is 30-year-old Alldine McLeggon of Grant’s Town, St. Mary. Four others travelling in the car in which Ms McLeggon was a passenger were treated at hospital.

Reports are that about 2:00 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025, a grey Toyota Axio motor car was travelling from the Belfield Pen area towards Wilderness when the driver allegedly dozed off and lost control of the vehicle. The car subsequently crashed into a concrete column at the entrance of Tulloch’s Auto Parts.
Police further report that five people, including the driver, were aboard the vehicle at the time of the incident. All occupants sustained injuries and were assisted to the Port Maria Hospital by passers-by.
Miss McLeggon of Grant’s Town succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
The other passengers, including three minors, were treated and released.
Ms McLeggon’s death brings to 17 the number of people killed in 14 fatal collisions in St Mary, since the start of the year.
The St. Mary Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are urging motorists to exercise caution, especially during late-night travel.
