GANJA-LACED SWEETS, OTHER ITEMS SEIZED

DRUG BUST IN TOWER ISLE, ST. MARY

 

Police seized a variety of ganja infused products and arrested a man in connection with them in Tower Isle, St Mary, on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The items included sweets and confectionery laced with ganja

Members of the St. Mary Police in collaboration with the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) carried out the operation about 5:00 a.m. at a residence located in the Country Club community of Tower Isle, St. Mary. Police said they executed a search of a two-bedroom concrete dwelling, which led to the discovery of a significant assortment of cannabis-laced items.

Among the items seized were:

  • 200 cannabis-infused gummies
  • 17 sugarcane candies labeled “High Vibes”
  • Several packets of edible cannabis products including “Needs” gummies
  • 9 packets and 11 cups of compressed ganja strains
  • 7 saucers containing loose ganja
  • Bottles and containers of rum infused with ganja
  • A packet of cannabis-infused Tic Tacs
  • One (1) packet labeled “Island Spice Hot Wing Sauce” infused with cannabis

One person was taken into custody in connection with the find. Investigations are ongoing.

The police are reminding the public that the sale and distribution of cannabis-infused edibles remains illegal under Jamaican law and pose significant health risks, especially to minors. Persons with information on illegal drug activity are encouraged to contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stop at 311.
