AIMED AT PROMOTING FAMILY HEALTH, ASSISTING SCHOOL

The Ocho Rios Family 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, April 26 to promote family health and support Northgate High School.
The Northgate Youth and Family Development Foundation (NYFDF) officially launched the Ocho Rios Family 5K Run/Walk on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
This event, to be held under the theme “Promoting Family Health, Supporting Education,” is a fundraising initiative in support of the NorthGate Education Fund.

Chairman of the NYFDF, Wesley Boynes, described the launch as a historic milestone. “The NYFDF is deeply committed to advancing education, particularly at the community level,” Mr. Boynes affirmed. “This 5K is not just a run—it’s a movement that empowers families, strengthens community bonds, and supports youth through meaningful educational opportunities.”
Proceeds from the event will directly support scholarships for students attending, or aspiring to attend, NorthGate High School—a private secondary institution in Ocho Rios operated by the NYFDF.

Vanessa Peak, Director of NorthGate High School, encouraged the public to support the school’s unique brand of education, one that shapes not only intelligent learners but exemplary citizens.
The Ocho Rios Family 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, starting at 6:00 a.m. from the Ocho Rios Bay Beach Parking Lot. The scenic route will take participants along Main Street to Irie FM, down the Ocho Rios Bypass, and back via Milford Road, returning to the Bay Beach along Main Street. The event is open to individuals and families and aims to promote physical well-being, emotional bonding, and a sense of community togetherness.
