VICIOUSLY CHOPPED BY MAN OF UNSOUND MIND
PORT MARIA, St Mary; April 14, 2025
A 61-year-old man was murdered at his house in St Mary just after midnight Sunday by a man said to be of unsound mind who attacked him and his son. The son escaped.
Police identified the slain man as Rollin Henry, of Gayle Spring, St. Mary.
Reports are that Henry was at home with his wife and son very early Monday morning, April 14, 2025, when they smelled smoke.
Upon making checks, they observed a man known to them, who was said to be mentally challenged, setting fire to a section of the washroom.
Henry, accompanied by his son each of whom was armed with a machete confronted the suspect.
During the encounter, the suspect allegedly disarmed them and used one of the machetes to inflict multiple chop wounds to Henry’s head and feet. The son managed to escape unharmed.
The police were summoned, and upon arrival, found Henry lying along the roadway near his home with severe chop wounds. A machete was lodged in his head.
