ST MARY POLICE SEIZE GUN, AMMO IN GAYLE

MAN CHARGED, 2ND GUN SEIZED IN TWO DAYS

GAYLE, St Mary; March 9, 2025

The St Mary police seized a gun and ammunition and charged a man in connection with the seizure in Gayle in the parish, on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

Charged is 33-year-old Odaine Hunt, of River Road, Gayle, St. Mary.

Hunt has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Reports are that about 7 a.m. Sunday,  a 20-member security team drawn from the Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defence Force carried out an operation that led to the search of premises in River Road, Gayle. The law enforcement officers recovered a homemade shotgun and a 12-gauge cartridge.

Hunt was taken into custody and later charged.

Only on Friday, police arrested and charged another man in connection with  a Beretta pistol seized in Gayle. The manhad turned up at the station claiming he had been shot by an unknown assailant. The gun was found when police searched his premises.

St Mary police have been carrying out several raids and using other security measures in fighting an increase in violence and gang activities in parts of the parish.
