MONEAGUE COLLEGE CELEBRATES INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION

COLLEGE HAILS IT AS A ‘BIG DEAL’, JOINS 6 OTHER TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS

There is jubilation in The Moneague College community, St Ann, following the college’s attainment of institutional accreditation.

The latest achievement for The Moneague College which turns 70 next year (2026) puts it among an elite group, including six other tertiary institutions in Jamaica, that have achieved institutional accreditation.

, PrincipalThe college has announced two celebratory events to mark the achievement — a Thanksgiving Church Service, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 9:30  a.m. and a Celebratory Assembly, the following day, Monday, February 17, starting at 10:30 a.m.. Both events will be held at the Gloria Johnson Multi-purpose Hall on the main campus, Moneague.

Principal Howard Isaacs has repeatedly, confidently, and publicly, expressed that the college deserved to be and would be institutionally accredited.  Responding to the North Coast Times about what this means, Mr Isaacs said:  “It’s a great achievement and represents years of work and the dedicated efforts of the college family. Exposing the college to rigorous scrutiny and meeting the standards of the University Council of Jamaica is a big deal. The journey continues even as we are thankful.”

Chairman of the Board of Management Professor John Lindo said: “The attainment of institutional accreditation validates The Moneague College’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic standards, programs, and services. As we approach our 70th anniversary, we are deeply grateful to our past and present faculty, staff, students as well as Boards of Management and the community for their unwavering support, which made this milestone possible.

Moneague is a multidisciplinary institution offering 19 Associate and Bachelors degree programmes across its three campuses. More than 1,200 students are enrolled in the college’s programmes.
