2 GUNS, AMMO SEIZED
Police shot and killed a man who they say pointed a gun at them in Oracabessa, St Mary, early Thursday morning, January 30, 2025. Two guns and ammunition were recovered.
Dead is 33-year-old Jhevaughn Norcliff Peart, otherwise called “Shotty Bones,” an unemployed resident of Tank Lane, Oracabessa.
Reports to the North Coast Times are that shortly after midnight Wednesday, officers were conducting an operation in the area when they observed Peart standing inside an open house doorway. He was seen holding a brown paper bag in his left hand and a firearm in his right hand.

Peart pointed the firearm at the officers. A release from the police said: “In response and fearing for their lives, officers discharged their service weapons. Peart was struck and disarmed. A silver .38 revolver was retrieved from his right hand, while another silver .38 revolver was found inside the brown paper bag. Peart was immediately transported to the Port Maria Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”

Both firearms were found to be loaded. During a subsequent search of the premises, officers recovered additional ammunition to include 5.56 and 9mm rounds on a dresser in a room occupied by Peart.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and other relevant authorities have been notified, police reported.
The St Mary police have been carrying out several early morning operations in parts of the parish. Three areas are also under curfews that were scheduled to end Thursday evening at 6 o’clock.
