ACCUSED RAPIST HELD NEAR WHERE HE ESCAPED WEEKS AGO
An accused rapist who escaped police custody while in court three weeks ago has been captured.
He is tirty-one-year-old Oshane Scott, otherwise called ‘Chin Chin’ a labourer of Manchester Lane, Cox Street, Port Maria in St. Mary.
Police said Scott was apprehended near his home in Port Maria on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, after escaping custody on Friday, November 29.
According to reports from the Port Maria Police, Scott was walking along Warner Street in the S Mary capital, at about 8:04 p.m. when the police saw him and asked him for identification which he failed to provide. He was taken into custody and was later identified.
The North Coast Times reported that Scott escaped from the St Mary Parish court where he was appearing Friday morning, November 29.
ACCUSED RAPIST FLEES PORT MARIA COURT
Scott was at the court building as he was scheduled to appear before the Port Maria Circuit Court to face charges of attempted rape, larceny, assault at common law, and unlawful wounding.
Reports are that at about 9:05 a.m., Scott was being escorted by a police corporal from the restroom back to the holding area. During the escort, Scott assaulted the officer and managed to flee through the main gate onto Warner Street.
He was captured near there Tuesday.
