4 PORTLAND MEN CHARGED WITH 2 MURDERS

DEATHS FROM BRUTAL BEATING OF INMATE,  AND MAN TIED TO TRUCK

PORT ANTONIO, Portland; Dec. 6, 2024

Two more men have been charged with the beating death, two months ago, of an inmate at the Buff Bay Police lockup.

On Sunday, Dec. 1, the police information arm CCN reported that a man had been charged in connection with the death of 57-year-old Patrick Perry of Long Bay, Portland.

The report named the man charged as twenty-two-year-old Malik Lewis, a baker of White River, Buff Bay.

Perry succumbed to injuries on Sunday, September 29 after he was found in a cell unresponsive. Police said they heard a commotion and went and found Perry had been beaten. He died at the hospital..

However, in a release Tuesday, police named two men in addition to Lewis, as being charged for Perry’s murder.

They are: 28-year-old Nicardo Buckley,  of White River District, and 19-year-old Xavier Harriot of Baker Street, both of Buff Bay, Portland.

Police said Perry was in lock-up when an altercation occurred between him and the other inmates. Perry was later found unresponsive and taken to the hospital. He was admitted in serious condition and later succumbed to injuries. Further investigations led to the men being charged whilst in custody. Their court date is being finalised.

PORTLAND VENDOR CHARGED WITH MURDER

In a separate case, thirty-nine-year-old Casrick Leslie, otherwise called ‘Juba’ a vendor of Cottage Lane, Sommer Town, Port Antonio, Portland has been charged with murder following an incident that occurred in West Palm Avenue, Port Antonio, Portland on Thursday, November 21.

Dead is 53-year-old Hubert Hemmings, otherwise called ‘Sanchez’ of Hope Bay, Portland.

Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that at about 6:45 a.m., lawmen were alerted by residents that a man was seen tied up and appeared to be badly injured. Upon the arrival of the lawmen, they observed Hemmings tied to a parked truck. He was assisted to the hospital where he died whilst undergoing treatment. Further investigations by the lawmen led to Leslie being arrested. He later gave a caution statement to the police which resulted in him being charged. His court date is being finalised. -30
