FATAL CRASH NEAR ORANGE PARK, ST ANN

WALKERSWOOD, St Ann; Dec. 2, 2024

A 72-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Saturday, November 30 when the driver of a car in which she was a passenger swerved to avoid potholes and the car collided with a bus.

Checks Monday afternoon by the North Coast Times with the Constabulary Communications Network to determine the woman’s name were not successful. However, a reader told the North Coast Times that the woman is called Miss Rattigan.

Reports are that at about 3:20 p.m. Saturday along the Hinds Town Road near Orange Park, a Toyota Townace bus and  Toyota Probox motorcar were travelling in opposite directions.

It is alleged that near the intersection, the driver of the Probox swerved to the right side of the roadway to avoid potholes and collided head-on with the Toyota Townace. As a result of this collision a female passenger travelling in the Toyota Probox motorcar sustained fatal injuries. Two other passengers in the Probox were injured and received treatment at hospital.

Road deaths have reached 343 up to Monday morning, December 2, following a crash in Clarendon in which two schoolchildren died.
