MAN BEFORE COURT ON MULTIPLE CHARGES ASSAULTS POLICE, ESCAPES

Police are on the hunt for an accused rapist who assaulted a policeman and escaped from the St Mary Parish court where he was appearing Friday, November 29.

He has been identified as 31-year-old Oshane Scott, otherwise known as ‘Chin-Chin,’ of Manchester Lane, Cox Street, Port Maria, St. Mary. Scott escaped custody from the holding area of the St. Mary Parish Court just after 9 o’clock Friday morning.
Scott was at the court building as he was scheduled to appear before the Port Maria Circuit Court to face charges of attempted rape, larceny, assault at common law, and unlawful wounding.
Reports are that at about 9:05 a.m., Scott was being escorted by a police corporal from the restroom back to the holding area. During the escort, Scott assaulted the officer and managed to flee through the main gate onto Warner Street.
According to the police report, despite immediate pursuit by officers on duty, Scott evaded capture and remains at large.
The Corporal was subsequently taken to the Port Maria Hospital and treated for injuries sustained during the escape.
Scott, who has been in custody since February 21, 2024, is also wanted in connection with a threat warrant. He is known to have a small tattoo on the right side of his neck.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force is asking for the public’s cooperation in finding the fugitive. Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of Oshane Scott is urged to contact Police Emergency at 119, Crime Stop at 311, the NIB Tip Line at 811 or the nearest police station.
Police say your assistance is critical in helping “bring this dangerous individual back into custody.
