MONTHS LATER THERE WAS STILL NO CAR

CHARGED FOR FRAUD, OBTAINING MONEY BY FALSE PRETENCE

PT ANTONIO, Portland; Nov. 11, 2024

A Portland man who reportedly took another man’s money for a car he claimed he would import and deliver has been charged with fraud and obtaining money by false pretence.

Charged is 24-year-old Tarique Thompson otherwise called ‘Shadows’ of Sherwood Forrest, Portland.

The charges arose out of a transaction Thompson allegedly entered into with a man for whom he promised to purchase and deliver a car from Japan.

Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that a man met Thompson through a friend, who told him that Thompson imports motor vehicles from the makers in Japan. Thompson and the man went to a financial institution where the man transferred a sum of cash to Thompson’s Account for motor the vehicle. However, a few months later no vehicle was delivered and the man then asked Thompson for a refund but he refused to return the money.

A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched. During the investigation, Thompson was arrested; he was charged.

His court date has not been finalized.
