ST MARY FARMER MURDERED WHILE VISITING GIRLFRIEND

GANG FIGHTING SAID TO BE MOTIVE

A 61-year-old farmer was shot and killed while visiting his girlfriend in St Mary, on Monday, Heroes Day.

Dead is Michael ‘Mickey’ Lumley of Enfield in the parish.

His death brings to 28 the number of homicides reported in the Annotto Bay division of the St Mary Police Department since the start of the year.

Reports to the North Coast Times are that about 7:15 p.m. on October 21, Lumley was sitting in the yard at his girlfriend’s house in Iterboreale, near Annotto Bay. A Toyota Axio motor car stopped at the gate and two men alighted from the vehicle. They entered the yard and approached Lumley before opening fire on him. He was hit in the upper body.

The gunmen escaped in the waiting motorcar.

Lumley was taken to the Annotto Bay hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Sources say that Lumley’s murder stemmed from gang rivalry.
