D’BAY PUSHING FOR SPOT IN D’CUP 32

WIN SATURDAY COULD ALMOST ENSURE ADVANCE

DISCOVERY BAY, St Ann; Oct 4, 2024

Discovery Bay High School’s daCosta Cup team is hoping to push into the Group of 32  now being settled.

Discovery Bay are the only St Ann team playing outside the parish, as it is grouped in Zone ‘D’ with schools from the West. The other six St Ann high schools in the competition are in Zone ‘K’

D Bay won their match on Thursday and are back on the field Saturday, October 5, against Holland High of Falmouth.  They should secure a win at home against the cellar dwellers. The teams drew one all (1-1) in the first round and Discovery Bay are expecting to go better in Saturday’s return leg.

On Thursday, October 3, D’Bay beat Muschett two goals to one with strikes from Aldino McPherson and Iwanye Brown. Coach Alberto Singh says they should have won by a bigger margin but the boys let several opportunities slip. He said although the goals came in the first half, D’Bay had better control of the contest in the second stanza.

They are in fourth place with seven points behind Spot Valley, William Knibb, and Cedric Titus.  Four from the Zone will go through to the Group of 32.
