FOUL PLAY SAID INVOLVED IN TEACHER’S DEATH

PRIORY SCHOOL TEACHER HAD WOUNDS TO FACE

Police say foul play is believed to be involved in the death of a teacher in St Ann, between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Dead is 46-year-old Courtney Evans, a Grade 5 teacher at Priory Primary School in St Ann.

Reports are that Mr Evans was found unresponsive in bed early Monday morning, June 17, by his common-law wife, in Bamboo in the parish. Reports say he had multiple wounds to the face and was bleeding from the nostrils.

North Coast Times was informed that Mr Evans was seen with bruises to his face Sunday afternoon but claimed they had been caused by a fall. He refused advice to seek medical attention.

Details are still not clear what happened on Sunday.

Several officers of the Ministry of Education Region Three were at the school Monday morning, assisting the staff and students to cope with the loss.

Vice Principal of Priory Primary School Antonette Crawford Brown told North Coast Times that Mr Evans was a lover of children and did everything to make them learn. “He was a very enthusiastic teacher, very dedicated, and had a passion for teaching,” she said.

North Coast Times will provide more details later.
