Brown’s Town, St. Ann, was the latest stop on Friday, August 15 for “NHT on Wheels”, the National Housing Trust’s mobile office. The Trust says over 200 residents and small business operators in the town made use of the opportunity to make queries about loans, apply for contribution refunds and check on their contributions. In addition, a number of young people registered with the Trust as self-employed contributors. “A well wanted to start pay NHT long time now,” was how Roger Smith responded to the Trust’s visit as he waited to register. Another small business owner, Sharon Moore explained that she wanted to make use of the NHT’s visit in her area because she had long gathered the documents to register but had not found the time to go into the NHT office in Ocho Rios. NHT on Wheels has been serving communities across the island since its launch on April 16. The mobile office was set up to take the services of the NHT to areas far from NHT offices, particularly rural communities. Its next stop was Clarke’s Town, Trelawny on August 20.
