3 police officers, 5 civilians held in murder probe
Reports that two police officers have been charged in the murder of a man in Ocho Rios, St Ann, have not been confirmed by the police.
Reports to the North Coast Times are that two of the three officers held in connection with the murder of Tajay Simms on Saturday, January 27 have been charged.
Simms, of Gayle St Mary, was shot and killed in the Mother’s Restaurant in Ocho Rios, following a dispute with several men about their place in a line in the fast food outlet.
The North Coast Times reported earlier that three policemen had been arrested in the probe.THIRD COP ARRESTED IN MURDER OF TAJAY SIMMS
Five civilians were also held in connection with the incident. The trigger man was said not to have been among those held.
North Coast Times checked Thursday after 9 p.m. with the Constabulary Communications Unit (CCU) but the duty officer said they did not have that report. The CCU said such a report would have to come from the CIB and there was no such report in their system.
The office of the DPP was expected to rule Thursday on whether the policemen should be charged.
The North Coast Times will bring you the latest as we get it.
