HE TOOK PEOPLE UP THE FALLS FOR CLOSE TO 40 YEARS
DUNN’S RIVER COMMUNITY SHOCKED AT JOE’S SUDDEN DEATH
The Dunn’s River Falls and Park community is in a state of shock at the sudden passing of 61-year-old Michael Dillion, falls guide. Dillon, better known as Joe and Mitchell, fell ill at work, on Tuesday, January 30. He was assisted by paramedics at Dunn’s River and taken to St Ann’s Bay Hospital. He died Wednesday, January 31. His cause of death has not been determined.
Dillon was employed by the St Ann Development Company (SADCO), for 32 years as a Falls guide. However, his associates told the North Coast Times that Dillon had been working informally at the Falls for years before that.
Devon Mitchell, President of the Dunn’s River Falls and Parks Craft Association said he and Joe grew up on the property. He said they had known each other for more than 40 years. “He was one of the most decent people on this property,” Mitchell said. “He is a man who came to work, take the visitors up on the falls, treat them well and finish his work. No fuss. Nobody complains about him.”
