PLAN TO GET DORMANT CLUBS GOING AGAIN

The Alexandria Police Youth Club (PYC) is the winner of the St Ann PYC Quiz competition. The final of the competition, in its tenth year, was held at the St Ann Police Headquarters, St Ann’s Bay on Saturday, January 28.
Alexandria triumphed over the three other teams participating in the finals. They were Content Gardens, Watt Town and Ferncourt High School. St Ann’s Bay Police Youth Club who had entered the competition was short of one team member on the day of the final and withdrew.

Teams were tested on Bible Knowledge, English language, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. Alexandria scored 41 points and second-placed Content Gardens scored 28. Ferncourt High School was third, with Watt Town PYC fourth.
The quizmaster was Constable Franklyn Palmer.
Corporal Saneisha Johnson- Watkis is the Police Youth Club coordinator for the St. Ann division. Corporal Johnson-Watkis oversees 11 active clubs across the division.
She says there are several dormant clubs, some of which went out of action during COVID-19. According to Cpl Watkis an effort is being made to revitalize some of those clubs but a programme of activities to sustain them is being considered.

The St. Ann Police Youth Club Council is under the auspices of the Community Safety and Security (CSS) branch, of the JCF. The St Ann CSS is headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kevon Chambers. His deputy is Inspector Debbie Bowen-Jones.
