WOMAN’S BODY WAS FOUND NEAR CLAREMONT
Police have charged 40-year-old Dwayne Lloyd Simpson, firefighter of Carlton Mountain, Claremont, St. Ann with the murder of 63-year-old Maxine Parkinson, unemployed of Archer Hill, Claremont, St. Ann.
Ms Parkinson’s body was found in an isolated area of Nine Palms, near Claremont, on Wednesday morning, January 10, after she was reported missing on Monday, January 8. The body had upper body and head injuries, apparently inflicted by a knife.
Reports are that Simpson was related to Ms Parkinson and disagreed with her view of him about a relationship he had with a close family member.
Reports are that On Monday evening, January 8, Ms Parkinson had just left the home of the accused, Simpson, and was walking home. Simpson driving his Toyota Voxy motor car picked up Ms. Parkinson. He took her along a dirt road in an isolated area of Nine Palm, Claremont where he inflicted several wounds to her body, killing her.
On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, concerned family members made a missing person report to the Claremont Police and an investigation was launched.
Police said that on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, about 7 a.m. the accused who was in custody from the previous night admitted to the Police that he had killed Ms. Parkinson. He took the Police to the location where he had disposed of her body.
People from the area had been searching for Ms Parkinson from Tuesday and said they located the body Wednesday morning before police came to the scene.
A court date is to be set for Simpson.
