Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention starts in Trelawny Friday

Jehovah’s Witnesses

A specialJehovah’s Witnesses Convention takes place over this weekend at Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium in Falmouth. The theme of this year’s program is “Keep Seeking First God’s Kingdom!” The convention, which will begin on Friday July 25, 2014, will be the last of three, three-day conventions to be held across Jamaica. There is no admission fee. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations. Teddy E. Clarke, a convention spokesman, states: “People of many faiths pray for God’s Kingdom. This convention will explain what that Kingdom is and how it can be a positive influence in our lives. A highlight of the program will be the keynote address on Friday morning, which will discuss how that Kingdom is benefiting people today.” He adds: “A core belief of Jehovah’s Witnesses, based on Biblical and historical evidence, is that Jesus Christ began to rule as the King of God’s Kingdom in 1914. The convention program marks this year as the centennial of that event.” For the past two weeks Jehovah’s Witnesses have been extending personal invitations to everyone from Falmouth, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril, Savanna-la-mar and Santa Cruz to attend the convention with them. Locally, all of the area’s 69 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses have been supporting the activity of distributing printed invitations to the convention.
