Event is Part of College’s 70th Anniversary Celebrations Plus Fundraiser for Scholarships
All is now set for the 5K Run/Walk at the Moneague College, St Ann, on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The Dr Andre Grant 5K Run/Walk is one of the calendar events of the 70th anniversary of the institution. The college commenced the celebrations with a church service on Sunday, September 13, on its main campus.

This weekend’s 5K Run/Walk commences at 6:30 Sunday morning, with warm-up exercises starting at 6. Head of the Physical Education Department and team leader for the Andre Grant 5K Run/Walk is Nicole Aiken Pinnock. She says the Run/Walk is open to the college community, high school students, the business community, and participants from all over Jamaica.

She describes an interesting route that takes participants off campus toward Phoenix Park, close to the North South Highway, and through the town of Moneague, before ending back at the college.
Mrs Aiken Pinnock says the event is one for fun and health and notes it is the fourth Run/Walk the Moneague College is staging to cater to people of all ages and levels of fitness. She says that previous stagings have attracted groups from communities.
She describes Sunday’s 5K Run/Walk as being of special significance as it is part of the 70th anniversary celebrations, it continues to brand a distinguished institution and will also raise funds for the Moneague College Sports Scholarship Fund. “Every year we have students on sports scholarships for various sporting disciplines including cricket, football, netball, volleyball” and these benefit from the Scholarship Fund, she said.

She said the college was thankful and proud to have kept the sponsorship of Western Sports from the inaugural staging of the Run/Walk. Other sponsors include TIP Friendly Society, High Tech Chemical, Bay Juices, Island Dairies Ltd, Yummy Bakery, Coldfeild, Lyming, WISYNCO, Ackee Pod Enterprises and Hewden Enterprises.

There will be many prizes for winners and other participants in the various categories.
In-person and online registration are now taking place. Interested individuals are encouraged to go to the college’s website or official Moneague College social media platforms and use the QR code to register or visit the college’s main campus. Mrs Aiken Pinnock says arrangements have been made for those who turn up on Sunday morning and want to participate to pay the fee and register right there.
