FESTIVAL QUEEN WINS A BOUNTY OF PRIZES IN EMERGING TOP AMONG EIGHT CONTESTANTS

RUNAWAY BAY, St Ann; June 23, 2026

Twenty-eight-year-old sales executive and university student Tavina Porter is the new Miss St Ann Festival Queen, following her victory over seven other contestants at the coronation show on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Mr Porter, a student at the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean and a senior sales executive at Sandals Resorts, wore the sash of Bando Events Solutions

In second place or first runner-up was Javelle Stewart, wearing the sash Tents N’More, while Tashana Fagan, wearing the sash Miss Jewellery Junction, was second runner-up.

The event, put on by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), was held at Cecille’s Garden & Wedding Centre Ltd, Runaway Bay, St Ann.

Among those making the top five, before the queen and her runners up were chosen, were Ashiel Davis, Miss Christar Villas, and  Audrianna Thomas, Miss New Windsor Pharmacy.

Ms. Porter also captured the sectional awards for Most Congenial, Most Active in the Community, Most Poised, Most Popular on Social Media, and Best Performance (for the cultural piece).

The award for Most Culturally Aware went to Javelle Stewart.

The competition highlighted the contestants’ leadership skills, community involvement, cultural awareness, and talent as they vied for the parish title.

Ms Porter was crowned by last year’s winner, Deveta Dowling. Ms Porter will go on to represent St Ann in July in the National Festival Queen contest.

Entertainment during the coronation show was provided by  Brandon Williams, Hannigan’s Dance Troupe, Demario Aarons and Marcus Garvey Technical High School. Emcee was Latoya Brooks Sewell.
