ST MARY POLICE MOURN LOSS
The community of police personnel in St Mary and the people of Richmond in the parish are in shock following the sudden death of a young police officer, on Thursday, March 21.
Dead is 27-year-old Shackael Ellis a police constable who was attached to the Detention and Courts section of the St Mary Police. He was living with his mother and other family members in Rock River, Richmond, in the parish.
Reports are that around 6 a.m. Thursday, March 21, Ellis’ mother went to awaken him. She found Shackael unresponsive and called the Richmond police.
The police found no sign of violence and he was taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital where his death was confirmed.
Reports to the North Coast Times are that he was with friends late into the evening Wednesday.
Shackael Ellis has been a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) for seven years.
The police are investigating.
