WORRY OVER ‘SILENCE’ IN STEER TOWN

The St Ann police have not yet been able to apprehend anyone in connection to the murder of a man along the Roaring River Main Road in the parish more than a week ago.Dead is 23-year-old David Ellis also called ‘Ozzy P’ of Damhead, Steer Town, St Ann. He was shot and killed on Thursday, January 22.Police reports are that about 6:15 pm residents heard explosions and called the police. Ellis’ gunshot-riddled body was found along the Roaring River main road.

COMMUNITY SILENCE

Superintendent of Police for St Ann, Yvonne Martin Daley said several persons of interest were taken into custody in connection with the killing. Superintendent Martin-Daley said however that the persons have been released after questioning because there was not sufficient information to keep them in custody.The shooting death of Ellis was allegedly gang related. Superintendent Daley says residents have not been coming forward with any information about violent activities in the community and they are tight lipped on what really transpired the evening Ellis was shot.The area, Steer Town continues to be a hot spot for violence in the parish even though there has been an increased police presence in the community. Superintendent Daley says there has been an increase in police foot patrol and she is appealing to residents to report what they know about the incident and related gang activities.
