ORACABESSA, St Mary; March 6, 2025

A woman and her teenage son are among four people taken into custody in connection with a murder investigation in Oracabessa, St Mary.

Dead is 46-year-old Arthneil Saunders, otherwise called “Neil,” a delivery driver of Tank Lane, Oracabessa.

Saunders was shot and killed Tuesday night, March 4, by men who ambushed him. Reports say that Saunders was attacked as he exited his Mark X motorcar on arrival at his home at Tank Lane.

He was hit several times in the upper body. Area residents took him to the Oracabessa police station from where he was taken to hospital. He was pronounced dead, just after midnight.

The St Mary police say they have made significant strides in the investigation of Saunders’ murder in Tank Lane.  “Through swift operational response and thorough investigative work, four individuals, including a juvenile and his mother, have been taken into custody in connection with the incident,” a statement from the police said.

Following the crime, the police acted promptly on intelligence and reports from concerned citizens. As the investigation progressed, several persons of interest reportedly voluntarily presented themselves to law enforcement officers to clarify their involvement. However, based on further inquiries, multiple individuals were detained on reasonable suspicion of murder and related offenses.
