WOMAN KILLED IN FERN GULLY CRASH

 

SEVERAL INJURED IN BUS ON EXCURSION

 

A woman is dead and more than 20 other people, most of them children, were injured following a bus crash in Fern Gully, St Ann, Sunday morning, March 31, 2024.

Dead is 49-year-old Suzette Thomas housekeeper of 9 Wildman Street, Kingston.

Several others were injured. Three of them -, two children and an adult — were transferred from the St Ann’s Bay hospital to hospitals in Kingston.

Police report that sometime after 11 o’clock a Nissan Caravan bus was transporting 16 children and seven adults on an excursion to Ocho Rios. The driver lost control of the bus on its descent along the winding Fern Gully road. The bus crashed into an embankment and several people were thrown onto the roadway.

Passersby, police, and fire department personnel transported the injured to St Ann’s Bay Hospital where Ms Thomas was pronounced dead. Six others were reported seriously injured. Three of them were transferred to medical facilities in the Corporate Area.
